#973 What I Wouldn't Give

I’ve heard this phrase a lot related to envy, regret, and wishful thinking.

“What I wouldn’t give to have a body like that.”

Well, it seems like what you wouldn’t give is the nod to healthy food choices over fast and fatty, or the time to be in the gym, or the money to hire a trainer.

“What I wouldn’t give to have that kind of money.”

Unless you’re referring to a lottery winner, I’d say you wouldn’t give up the security of your limited wage job. Maybe you wouldn’t give up binge-watching TV while that girl you envy was building her business, or perhaps you wouldn’t give up the time she traded for researching and studying.

Barring acts of God and unexpected illness, we are all exactly where we planned to be.

Your plan may have been intentional and meticulous, or it may have been planned for you because you had no plan. (Nature abhors a vacuum)

Good or bad, we are where we intended to be even when we didn’t know our intention. In fact:,

If you lack the intention to be healthy, can I argue that your underlying choice is to be unhealthy?

So please don’t indulge in the “what I wouldn’t gives”.

Taking responsibility for where we are is the first step to getting where we want to go.
