#1149 How Big are your Holes?

HAPPY VETERAN’S DAY! Please take a moment to honor all who have served so that we can have the lives we do.

You don’t have to play with every ball of string that rolls your way. I know folks who believe you’ve got to call people out.  They think they will take a yard if you give an inch.  They believe that they are somehow diminished by not pointing out every slight. They think letting one go fosters a belief that they can be had and want you to know, most assuredly, that they cannot.

How big are the holes in your seine net of life? Imagine walking through life with an invisible seine net in front of you. The waters of life pass through easily, but the net captures life’s flotsam and jetsam in sizes that can’t pass through.  How big are the holes in your net?  Are you capturing every insult, worry, or slight?

Imagine again that net proceeding you as you move through life.  Those small holes capture everything! As it collects, it will clog the net and slow your progress.

On the other hand, imagine your seine net looks more like a cargo net.  Small things pass through easily, but anything large enough to matter will undoubtedly be caught.

Here is my philosophy on this: If I know and the universe knows that someone is trying to put one over on me, tarnish my rep, or make little insults, I don’t need them to know I know. I believe that the small-mindedness of the offending individuals is their punishment.

Letting the small stuff flow through doesn’t mean you won’t stand firm on essential principles; it means you know the difference.
